Expedition: The Future Expansion & Deluxe Edition

With your help, we raised $38,382 - not only did we fund the game, we unlocked a bunch of stretch goals, including the new GM’s Corner and several commissioned quests. We couldn’t be happier with the results of this Kickstarter and the Future of Expedition!

What’s next? In a couple weeks you’ll receive an email from BackerKit (our pledge manager) asking if you want to add any additional items to your pledge, and to provide your mailing address for your copy(s). While we wait for the funds from Kickstarter to arrive, we’ll work with our manufacturer to finalize and proof the files. And, of course, we’ll make sure to provide updates every two weeks until your games ship.

Even though the Kickstarter’s over, we’re constantly making improvements to the game, so don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and join the community on Reddit and Discord for all of the latest and greatest!

Update #9: 48 hour mark!

Gallant adventurers,  

Expedition: The Future has raised over $30,000 for our campaign, meaning we tripled our goal so far. Better yet, it’s not over yet! We have 48 hours left for that final push to unlock more stretch goals, including The Future Combat Music and our first Audioquest. Every share, post, Tweet and mention to your friends and family during these last hours means the world to us.

We also wanted to take the time to announce the winner of the Stories of the Star contest. Drumroll please…

The winner of Stories of the Stars is Bounty on Laima Prime (Starstrider Tales) written by Josh K! We loved the usage of persona, skill cards, and the new synth enemies in this excellent take on sci-fi adventure. You’ll receive your signed copy of the Deluxe Edition sometime in May along with everyone else’s copy, and will receive your loot points immediately.

We also wanted to give an honorable mention to Missing Crewmate written by Rick Barrow! We absolutely loved his story and use of pen and paper mechanics to craft new enemies in his adventure. We’ll be rewarding you with 100 loot points for your amazing quest!

Update #8: GM’s Corner and social goal unlocks!

Hello again, intrepid adventurers,  

We’ve unlocked two stretch goals in the past two day, nice work!

First off is the GM’s Corner, which we showcased in last week’s livestream. It’s a new in-app feature that’ll assist players with filling the GM role by providing a set of GM-focused quests designed for different levels of involvement. On one end will be madlib-style stories, where you and your party get to select a few choice details but get a lot of help from the app - perfect for your first time GM’ing. On the other end, the app will provide inspirations and pacing suggestions, but leave the majority of the storytelling up to you - perfect for seasoned roleplayers who need a story in a pinch. No matter your experience level, we hope the GM’s Corner will enable you to become a more confident - and frequent - storyteller!

We still have a lot of exciting stretch goals to unlock - another fantastic commissioned Future quest and 40k, then Future Combat Music at 50k and Expedition’s first Audio Quest at 60k! (by popular demand, we moved those up on the tracker and moved the additional bonus quest to 70k).

In addition to that, we’ve unlocked the second social stretch goal: a new quest for The Future! This quest will be written by none other than Gabbie & Will, two of the first Expedition playtesters.

We also have a neat social stretch goal at 200 shares: a quest that’s written by you, the community! If we unlock it, we’ll publish a series of polls on social media where you can vote on how the quest proceeds. Then, we’ll take it to one of our acclaimed authors to turn into a fully-featured Future quest. And we’re only 100 shares away from unlocking that - if everyone posts and tweets the Kickstarter, we could unlock it in just a few days!

Next update we'll be announcing the winner of the Stories of the Stars contest that concluded yesterday. There's just a few days left in the campaign, so now’s the perfect time to share it with your friends and family. With your help, we just might be able to unlock all of these stretch goals!

Greetings brave spacerfarers, 

Tonight at 6:30-7:30 PM EST we’ll be having a live playthrough of Expedition using the game’s online multiplayer with Todd, Scott, Logan, and Greg, as well as talking about what we’re planning with GM’s Corner. So make sure to tune in and ask some questions, adventurers!   

In addition to being close to unlocking GM’s corner, we’re also only 4 shares away from the social stretch goals. Help us unlock the goal by sharing the Kickstarter on Facebook and Twitter!  

Just another reminder that our writing contest, Stories of the Stars, is going on! Update #6: What is GM’s Corner? + Livestream recap

Greetings adventurers,  

We’re only a few thousand away from unlocking GM’s Corner, so we wanted to take a moment to highlight what it’s about! GM’s Corner will be a new section of the app containing various tools to inspire and enable you to tell your own story. It’ll contain resources for every level of storyteller, from MadLibs-style fill in the blanks to help you overcome the fear of your first story, all the way to story arc generators that handle the pacing and preparation but leave plenty to your imagination.

Ambitious storytellers can also participate in our writing contest, Stories of the Stars! Write and submit your best Expedition quest using The Future’s new cards and mechanics by midnight, October 28th for a chance to win a signed copy of the Deluxe Edition and 500 loot points.
